I love working in science and having a job which is lab based – the technology we work with is so interesting!
How would you describe your role?
I am one of the production chemists, I am in charge of some of the processes we run at Nanoco’s production facility in Runcorn. I am also studying for a Chemical Science degree through an apprenticeship which is funded wholly by Nanoco.
What does a typical day look like for you?
One of the nice things about working here is that there is no standard day, I will usually be in the lab, focusing on processes I am running and assisting the rest of the team. We work together and all help each other out. I might also be involved in process transfer which is when we start a new process.
What has your biggest achievement been since joining Nanoco?
As part of my studies, I had to complete an improvement project. We had a technical issue and I came up with a plan and implemented changes to solve this. It was great to see how I could make a contribution and see my solution in action! I feel like Nanoco really invested in me by sponsoring my course, it showed they believe in me, so it is good to see where I can add value as a result of studying
What do you think makes Nanoco a great place to work?
I like that I am responsible for the work I do and have ownership. I can express my ideas and these are taken seriously by our senior leaders.
